Still hot and humid. My rule of thumb is when my socks are just as wet as my shirt, it's humid. It didn't feel so bad but I was sweating a lot. I was also breaking in a new pair of shoes. Got blisters. I'm hoping the weather will turn for the better. I'm starting to get that burn out feeling. Being so hot and slow.

Finally re-breaking the 10 minute barrier. I'm sure it was the cooler weather. Must be the weather. Sadly, my Adrenalines did not do so well running in the hot afternoons. The sole is pretty much kaput. Thank goodness there's a pair of Kayano's on my bookshelf itching to get out.

Water Retainer With a Running Problem

What's up with the weight? I went from 174 to 179? What on earth did I eat last weekend? So my knee jerk reaction is to lace on some running shoes as soon as possible and go out. I think I'm finally getting used to running in the all enveloping warmth. How hot was today? I filled an amphipod full with ice and topped it off with as much water as possible. It makes a racket during the first mile.. like I'm mixing a drink while running. Lots of interesting stares from other pedestrians. By the second mile, it had totally melted.... bummer. But the couple of swigs I took early were very satisfyingly refreshing.

Saturday Long Run

There was some insider information about a birthday cake early Saturday morning. Not wanting to miss out on that, I found myself at the YMCA parking lot on Saturday morning. A bunch of Woodlands Fitters training for fall marathon were already assembled. Apparently, it was Karen F's birthday. Karen is training for another Ultra race. The November San Antonio marathon is only a training run for her. Anyhow, Karen was leading a group on a 12 plus miles which I didn't think would be a good idea for me. But Jon Walk was planning a run to the other YMCA which was just under 5 miles away. He was running one way and I wanted to put in about 10 miles or so. So I ran with Jon. For those who haven't tried running and carrying out a conversation, give it a try. It's a lot of fun and can get pretty profound. It also melts the miles away. The return trip by myself felt much longer and harder. I also managed to get lost briefly and added another mile to my run.

The ear feels normal again. No pictures unfortunately. But it was about twice as big as the right ear. Despite the spider bite, my vision hasn't drastically improved, I cannot climb walls, shoot webs or have super human powers. Frankly, it's not even helping with my running speed or stamina. Sigh.
