As in I ate 13 miles for breakfast today. How do you eat 13 miles? A step at a time. This is probably the last runner friendly weekend until November. I almost didn't make it out of bed. It was cold and the bed was warm. I also went to bed close to midnight the night before and that 5:30 alarm just was annoying. Somehow, I managed to get out of the house. Man was it cold!

Time of Day: 6:23 AM
Distance: 13.29 miles
Time: 2 hr 06 min 47 secs
Pace: 9:32 min/miles
Shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7 (67.43)
Weight: 173 lbs.
Calories burned: 1686.3 kcal

Best part of these long runs are the burned calories. 1600 plus calories baby! That is like an extra meal for Holden today. Yum! Sometimes I think I run to eat.

Mile 1: 9:53
Mile 2: 10:24
Mile 3: 10:17
Mile 4: 9:40
Mile 5: 9:29
Mile 6: 9:15
Mile 7: 9:26
Mile 8: 9:16
Mile 9: 9:16
Mile 10: 9:19
Mile 11: 9:26
Mile 12: 9:12
Mile 13: 9:23
0.30: 2:32

I wasn't really awake until after mile 3. I wasn't really warm either through the first 3 miles. I was glad I had on a long sleeve. The starting temp this morning was in the 40's. That is wonderful running temperature. Only issue today was a blister on the left pinkie toe. For some reason, it was rubbing against the #4 toe and the blister developed between these two toes. Hmmm. Perhaps I did not do a good job of putting on the sock.

I'm beginning to like running in GTS 7's. They are lighter and a little more flexible than my Kayano's. Through the years of running, I think I've built up enough lower leg muscles and connective tissue that I'm able to run with less structure and cushioning. I still have a new pair of Kayano 13's so I can still experiment. I might also try GT-2130's. Those are supposed to be like the GTS series. We'll see.

Great job on your 13-miler! And to think I am happy right now to walk a mile. :-)
